Job Title: Machine Operator – Secondary Production
Location: Durham, CT
Pay Rate: $16.50–$18.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-time

Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Machine Operator to join a growing team in Durham, CT. In this role, you will be responsible for operating a variety of machinery and equipment within the secondary production department.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a range of machining, assembly, printing, and finishing equipment such as presses, milling machines, laser welders/cutters, spot welders, printers, and tweaking tools

• Conduct visual and gauge inspections following Manufacturing Operating Instructions (MOIs)

• Accurately complete required documentation including travelers, inspection tickets, and more

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment by following 6S standards

• Adhere to all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Support continuous improvement initiatives

• Perform other duties as assigned, including cross-training in other departments

Supervision

This role is responsible for individual performance and is not typically responsible for supervising others. However, occasional guidance to coworkers may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, Technical School Diploma, or GED

• No prior experience required – training is provided

• Ability to read and understand simple instructions and basic correspondence

• Comfortable communicating in small group and one-on-one settings

• Basic math skills: ability to add/subtract two-digit numbers and multiply/divide by 10s and 100s

• Able to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and troubleshoot minor issues

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to stand, use hands, and reach with arms

• Frequently sits; occasionally walks, stoops, kneels, or crawls

• Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs regularly and up to 25 lbs occasionally

• Specific vision ability required includes adjusting focus

Work Environment

• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts

• Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations

• Moderate noise levels – safety glasses required and hearing protection recommended

Pay Details: $16.50 to $18.00 per hour
